Love is not
Love is not the same as peace or passiveness. Fighting hate with love does not mean letting white supremacists walk all over us, otherwise you are an involuntary link in the chain of the very hatred you speak out against. Fighting hate with love does not mean loving the evil, it means loving those it targets--the innocent, the vulnerable, those caught in the tracks unable to pull themselves loose. You are allowed to hate the enemy. You are allowed to hate those who have decided that some people don't deserve to walk the same soil as them. Love is energy--don't cast it aside. Use it. Wield it. Sometimes it's necessary to fight back. But fighting hate with love does not mean welcoming the hateful with open arms--they have chosen their path and embraced their fire. Fighting hate with love means standing up in the face of all this, shielding those who can't shield themselves, and resisting oppressors. Because everything good in this world comes from love, and everything bad in it comes from hatred or apathy. But love is not passive submission. Love is passion and passion is fire, and sometimes we fight fire with fire.
